I have an older Garmin Nuvi which came up with a message to reload my "lifetime" maps. Plugging the unit into my computer on January 18th, 2018, a message stated I had "corrupted" drivers.

Typed to the "chat" person who said, literally, "Oh! Let me give you support." The "support" guy with a heavy East Indian accent called and told me to go to a support website which also failed to update the maps but managed to come up with a whole list of things wrong with the unit. He wanted me to stay on the line and walk me through the procedure. Since I could not understand him very well trying to just get to the website, I decided it would be a waste of time.

Attempted two more calls to me which I ignored. I had just finished using the unit to drive to the VA and back and it worked fine.

A year ago I downloaded the lifetime maps, with no difficulty or phone calls needed, just time needed to update. Apparently, that was my lifetime.
